Alcohol
The Reason Why Islam Has Declared Alcohol Haram
And How Science Backs Islam's Claim
Islam is considered to be the most perfect
religion of the World, puts certain restrictions on its followers and
believers. In Islam the use of alcohol has been dubbed Haram and totally
against the Islmic believe. However, for many, when some religion restrains the
use of something they do not believe it, but when its science suggesting them
to stop they suddenly becomes believers.
Alcohol is an English name derived from an Arabic
word Al-Kohl. Al-Kohl means a drink made of fermented grains, fruits and some
other ingredients. This highly in-toxic beverage, in the Holy Quran has been
named as "Khumar", which means intoxication.
Harmful Effects Of Alcohol According To Science
And NOT ISLAM
Science terms Alcohol as a depressant that
damages the nervous system, producing a stimulating effect on the brain, which
slowly and gradually works its way in the body. By fermenting sugar, yeast and
Alcohol's main ingredient is ethyl alcohol, which produce different effects
through a number of different factors.
According to Health-line and some other authentic
sources, "Even a small amount of alcohol can damage the whole nervous
system. When you drink alcohol, it is absorbed into the blood and it is
distributed into the different parts of the body along with blood. Small amount
of alcohol will excreted out of the body through urine. If you drink alcohol in
excess amount you'll get drunk. How quickly alcohol is metabolized depends upon
you age and gender. Alcohol consumption causes some physical and emotional
changes that can do great harm to your body.
In some cases even a single episode of heavy
drinking can directly effect the heart. This is more likely to be done in
women. It can also inhibit hormone production and cause infertility.
Islam Prohibits Alcohol For A Number Of Reasons
Other Than Science
A famous incident narrated by the companion,
Jaabir and is recorded in the collections of Tirmizi, Abu Dawud and
Ibn-e-Majah:
"One day, as He came out of the mosque, The
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) noticed his cousin and son in law, Ali b Abi Talib
visibly upset. When the concerned Prophet asked Ali what was troubling him, Ali
simply pointed to the bloody carcass of his dearly cherished camel - no
ordinary camel, but the war-weathered camel that Ali would mount in his valiant
defense of the Prophet and Islam on the battlefield. Ali told that one of his
uncle was responsible for the unsanctioned slaughter of his animal and so the
Prophet went to ascertain his ( the uncle's) side of the story. Entering in the
presence of his uncle, the Prophet found him drunk with alcohol. Upon seeing
the displeasure in his nephew's face. The uncle knew at once, despite his
intoxication, that the Prophet had come to question him about Ali's beast of
war. With nothing good to saying his defense, the guilt-ridden, drunken uncle
blurted out to his nephew: " You and your father are my slaves!"
The Prophet inly response to this was " Truly, alcohol is the mother of
every evil ".
The first revelation on the prohibition of
alcohol was revealed in Makkah, before the hijrat and rest later.
"They ask thee concerning wine and gambling,
say: In them is great sin, and some profit, for men: but the sin is greater
than the profit."
It can be easily seen that Islam prohibited
alcohol and other in-toxic beverages eras ago. But science has now proved
alcohol as in-toxic.
